I have to say that I am partial to the close up below. This shot reminds me a lot of the movie called Moulin Rouge.

I have another free day today. I am looking forward to enjoy myself.

You guys have fun! :)

A place for you to hang out

Posted by attiev on 7 July 2010

Hi guys!

I was inspired by FS Photography when I saw his post. So, last week Friday morning, my husband and I went out to hunt for a spot where I could photograph and later add sunbeams in my final image.

So my husband drove while I was scouting the area and I found this nice cozy spot. Looks like a nice place for people to hang out and enjoy a barbecue. It was already after 9 ’0′clock in the morning, and this area was just well lit by the rising sun.

A place to hang out

Below is the vertical view of the opposite side. You get to see the small barbecue area.

I did not take a lot of shots that morning. I would love to explore more of that beach but we had limited time to spend there.

I would like to say thanks to Brian for helping me out with the sun rays. That tutorial is so cool Brian! ;)

A family session

Posted by attiev on 6 July 2010

Last weekend was a rather busy weekend for my husband’s family. We dressed up to attend wedding functions for 2 days and 1 night. After the wedding ceremony was over and since all of us were still nicely dressed afterwards, I took the liberty of taking shots of my husband’s nephew along with his family.

Here are two portraits of my husband’s first nephew.

It was quite a challenge to take shots of him as he didn’t stay still.

But I took  what I could get at that moment.

Enjoy your week guys! :)

I ended up with this…

Posted by attiev on 17 June 2010

Hello everyone, I received an e-mail requesting me to produce a video tutorial of how I did my vertorama images.

Below are examples of vertorama images that I created.

Golden sunset Calm blue sunset Sumbiling Eco Village - HDR Mamut Stream, Poring Hot Spring, Sabah - HDR Nuclear Sunset - HDR Intense Sunset - HDR

I am still in the process of finding and shooting appropriate subject. My husband and I went to beach to shoot sunset in the afternoon. Every time I was ready setting up my camera then it rain. I went home a couple of times with empty hand.

I got lucky when I managed to get another usable image for my flickr Photostream. I thought to share it here. This image was originally shot in colour and I converted it to B&W with photoshop.

... and I end up with this

And while I was busy with shooting my sunset, my husband saw 2 rainbows right behind me.

I always look forward to weekend, ever since I started working that is.

Enjoy the last days of the school holidays! ;D

My Friday morning

Posted by attiev on 4 June 2010

I went out early in the morning today to shoot tiny yellow flowers that I eyed since last week. There were a lot of them. Grass cutters came yesterday and they cut most of the yellow flowers leaving only a few of them behind. It was getting hotter by the time I laid on my stomach to get my shots.

It's a small world out there

While I was still shooting my subject, one of my aunts came to see what I was busy about. After I was done with the yellow flowers, we walked for a while and she asked me to take pictures of flowers around us.

Below are a few of the images of the flowers that I shot during the same morning.

Enjoy your weekend you guys! :)

Proud Photography Review

Posted by attiev on 14 May 2010

It was almost a year after I decided to take photography as my new hobby then I enrolled myself at Proud Photography’s Online Photography Course. I of course browsed the internet to look for other online photography courses but as I searched for more, I came across a lot of negative reviews concerning these online photography courses. That convinced me there has to be at least one online photography course that was really good. That was when I stumbled on Proud Photography. It has won me over because of their positive reviews. In my opinion the reviews were somewhat real and not overly exaggerated.

After I enrolled myself at Proud Photography, I was assigned to one of their mentors. The purpose of having a mentor is so they can guide you throughout the course. In all of my assignments, my mentor, Greg Howell, always offer suggestions and constructive criticisms so I could improve my photographs. Greg is always supportive of me and I truly appreciate the feedback that he had made on all of my assignments.

Proud Photography’s online photography course covers a variety types of photography and techniques. The one thing that is clear to me while doing the course is that different types of photography requires different settings on your camera. That information helped me a lot when I was doing their assignments.

I nailed the shot below when I had the opportunity to shoot water sports for Brunei Shutters Photography Competition. I used the skills and information that I learned from the course when I shot this image. Thanks to Proud Photography, this shot earned me 19 points (3rd place) of overall participations and 1st place in my group.

Fast action

I personally recommend Proud Photography’s online course to beginner to intermediate photographers. There are so much more that you get to learn (if you are a beginner) and you might find out something new about photography that you did not know before.

Take a look and if you think that Proud Photography’s online photography course is for you then my advise to you is for you to give 100% of your effort into this course. I recommend you to put aside your ego and open your mind so you could learn more from the course and your mentor. Because that is what happened to me.

Take a peek at one of my B&W images that I shot in 2009.

Enjoy your Friday everyone! ;)

PS The image above is straight from my camera. One of the rules stated by Brunei Shutters is that images taken are not to be digitally modified. Just to let you guys know, I no longer hold the copyright of this image.

Beauty and Lingerie

Posted by attiev on 12 May 2010

I had the pleasure of shooting two beautiful and wonderful ladies last week.
Below are a few shots from that day.
I have asked permission from these ladies to upload their pictures here, in Attiev Photography facebook page and also at my flickr photosteam.

So we started off with a simple shot of the two ladies.

Twin sisters?

A close up of the two beauties.

Two Beauty

I am always fascinated with her long and thick eyelashes. One of her best assets I’d say!

Close up of a Beauty

A more relax and casual portrait to end the photoshoot of that day. Look at that smile!

A beauty's smile

I would like to say thank you to our gracious host for lending us his home, for making this photoshoot possible for me and the two lovely ladies. Thank you so much you guys for taking the time to pose for me. I appreciate your kindness, patience  and good humour during the session. It was really fun!!

“Intense Sunset – HDR” is among the best of the best.

Posted by attiev on 4 May 2010

Good morning everyone!

I just found out that my HDR vertorama called the Intense Sunset is hand picked by the editors at the HDRspotting among the best of the best.

Thank you very much for doing so. I am grateful to be able to contribute to HDRspotting. I will of course continue my contribution.

I haven’t been out to take pictures outdoors ever since I got back from climbing Mount Kinabalu. My injured foot is not fully recovered yet. However, I managed to hold a portrait photoshoot last week. Do you want to take a peek?

;) Here is Beauty in Red.

Have a great week you guys!
