Mamut Stream, Poring Hot Spring, Sabah – HDR

We visited a Poring Hot Spring during our trip to Kota Kinabalu in Sabah. We had to cross a suspension bridge which is over Mamut Stream before we reached the hot spring. The view was beautiful and I had to take pictures of the stream. The image on top is one of them.

Below is a close up shot of the bath tubs. My husband and I managed to get into an empty tub and enjoyed the hot sulphurous spring. You can smell the sulphur too.

While we enjoyed ourselves in the hot tub, some of us went to see a waterfall close to this place. We did not know and did not get the chance to see it for ourselves. I think I will come here again just so I could visit and explore other parts of this hot spring.

  1. But the tubs are “empty”… lol… Didn’t it get a bit cold with no water, and just the sulphurous smell… ;)
You’re right though… Quit lazing in the tubs next time, and get back there for the waterfall… lol… Much more important… ;)

Surprisingly not cold at all. It felt kinda humid when we were in the tub with the hot water from the spring. You are right on the waterfall though. Next time I explore first, after I am done then enjoy the hot tub ;)

Nice.. I saw that largest flower, Rafflesia arnoldii which was huge and around more or less 1 meter in its diameter. Then I had gone for Canopy Walk which was hypothetical to be a track walking path. Then the 2 different waterfalls. Bathe within the Japanese-fashion baths. I took a look at Butterfly Farm. Hi Alex, unfortunately, my trip there was really brief. I would like to see that Rafflesia. I haven’t seen it for real in my entire life. Thanks for the website! Will look it up.
